Specialists often refer to reinforcing steel in an even shorter and simpler way — “Rebar”. However, the correct designation must comply with the above-mentioned GOST standards.
AREA OF APPLICATION
The primary area of application for reinforcing steel is construction. It is most commonly used in the following forms:
– Bars made from reinforcing steel rods, both plain (round) and deformed profile with longitudinal and transverse crescent-shaped ribs;
– Meshes, manufactured in the form of grids made of bars welded together at the intersections;
– Frameworks, representing longitudinal reinforcement connected by transverse reinforcement which, as the name suggests, is used for load distribution. It helps maintain the position of the working bars and accurately distribute the load. Such frameworks are used in reinforcing columns and beams. Deformed reinforcing steel is used for manufacturing these frameworks;
– Assembly reinforcement, made in the form of assembly and fastening units connected to the reinforcement framework during its assembly and used for further transportation and installation of the frameworks. Plain rebar is used for such work;
– Embedded parts, made from reinforcing steel and sheet metal. Since embedded parts are most often welded during the installation of reinforced concrete structures, the reinforcing steel used to make them must have good weldability;
– Anchor reinforcement, representing embedded elements of a concrete foundation designed to fix anchor studs.
In monolithic construction, the use of reinforcement is mandatory.
The purpose of reinforcement is to compensate for stresses and loads arising during operation. Strong concrete is easily destroyed under tension. The inclusion of steel reinforcement in a concrete structure provides resistance to tensile and bending loads.
Almost all concrete structures are reinforced. This means that reinforcing steel is needed everywhere where reinforced concrete products and structures are required.
ADVANTAGES
The presence of a modern in-house steelmaking complex and the latest section rolling mill, equipped with integrated water and air cooling systems, enables the production of thermomechanically strengthened reinforcing steel from various steel grades for a wide range of applications.
Automated selection of optimal deformation and thermal processing modes ensures the production of reinforcing steel of the following classes:
– At400C from steel grades St3sp and St3ps;
– At500C from steel grades St5sp and St5ps;
– At600 and A800 from steel grades 20GS or 35GS;
– A400C from modified steel grade St3sp with increased manganese and silicon content;
– A500C from modified steel grade St3sp with increased manganese and silicon content;
– A600C from modified steel grade St3sp with increased manganese and silicon content;
– B500B from low-alloy structural steel grade 12G2S;
– B500C from low-alloy structural steel grade 12G2S.
As is well known, the reinforcement class defines the minimum yield strength. Accordingly, as the class increases, the strength characteristics of the reinforcement also increase, providing a technical opportunity to use bars of smaller diameter or to reduce the number of bars in the framework — or apply both methods. In this case, the weight savings on reinforcement can reach up to 26%, which allows for a significant reduction in financial costs when implementing large-scale investment projects.
The plant’s certified Central Factory Laboratory is equipped with modern control and measuring instruments, testing equipment, and spectral analysis tools, which enables the plant to ensure that the reinforcing steel complies with technological regulations and normative documentation.

STANDARDIZATION
At present, on the initiative of the JV LLC “Tashkent Pipe Plant named after V.L. Galperin”, the Research Institute of Technical Regulation and Standardization in Construction under the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Uzbekistan has developed the National Standard OʻzMSt 193:2024 “THERMOMECHANICALLY STRENGTHENED REINFORCING STEEL OF CLASS A550SK”. Research and testing of A550SK class reinforcement were carried out in two independent accredited laboratories. The parameters regulated by the National Standard were confirmed during testing of the A550SK class reinforcement produced by the plant.

- Nominal diameter of reinforcing steel: 5.5; 6.5; 8; 10; 12; 14; 16; 18; 20; 22; 25; 28; 32; 36 and 40 mm.
- Reinforcing steel with diameters of 5.5; 6.5; 8; 10 and 12 mm is produced in coils weighing from 1500 to 2000 kg, and diameters of 12; 14; 16; 18; 20; 22; 25; 28; 32; 36 and 40 mm in bars packed in bundles weighing up to 3000 kg.
- Reinforcing steel can be manufactured:
– According to GOST 34028-2016:
a) by hot rolling method:
– class A240 – with round profile;
– classes A400C, A500C, A600C, and A800 – with a periodic 2f profile, featuring two longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs inclined to the axis with a crescent-shaped cross-section, located on two opposite sides along the perimeter;
– According to O’zDSt 3025-2015:
– classes At400C and At500C – with a periodic 2f profile, featuring two longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs inclined to the axis with a crescent-shaped cross-section, located on two opposite sides along the perimeter;
– According to LST EN 10080-2005:
– reinforcement classes B500B and B500C – with a periodically profiled or plain surface.
